Within this project I was using my Fujifilm XT3, with the XF 18-55mm lens, Zhiyun Weebill lab filming at 4k 60fps, I used my Pixapro LED light with LEE filters.
From listening to the song and hearing that a lot of the song is instrumental me and the artist Defcon Lawless decided it would good to make it dark and mysterious with a cinematic short film look. Then also hearing the lyrics “Here I am” and the tone of sound. We decided to have Defcon Lawless in various locations with no one around with a lot of dark scenes to give the impression that he is always working in shadows, looking for the outside and observing and planning his next move.
Whilst filming we noticed there was a full moon and we chose to make the most of it by having it a recurring theme within the video in scenes with the old walls and parts of Southampton..
After filming I began colour grading and editing. I was very inspired of the use of colours in pulp fiction and decided to use similar colours to create the mood and feel. Giving the audience a journey with the deep rich colours at the beginning then slowly stripping the rich colours away bringing more a cooler tone to then a dark washed out gritty look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY7cVDwGYYE
